Not sure why our army uses  Special Forces like this. Deployed as security instead of standby rapid reaction force similar to NSG in India. Marine Corps already has a Special Operations Unit to take over these responsibilities. 

Deploying SF like this means releasing SF identities to public. SF identities should remain classified.

Could someone with knowledge on this matter explain what’s going on? My understanding is that host nations would be responsible for the security of visiting dignitaries (this is covered under the Vienna Convention?) and governments typically allow their own personnel to carry sidearms (with our permission) but the bloke on the right looks paramilitary and he’s holding what appears to be an assault weapon. Now I do understand that this is the Indian PM so his visit would warrant the highest level of security detail so I’m guessing this would be cleared up with our FM before the visit. But is this typical protocol observed here?

Yeah. So Pakistan Air space is compromised especially at Lahore. Which means India has the ability to level up the place using cruise missiles. This is seriously not good man.

My biggest fear is that China is right fucking there.  India and China have had similar spats and are the two most populated countries by orders of magnitude more than any other.  A war between them would be catastrophic.  In the vacuum left by Dump and his idiots, what will the CCP do?

China has a very delicate line to walk.  If they want to be the world power that people turn to, this is their chance.  Unfortunately, this also brings increased scrutiny to the region and really puts a damper on that whole 'One China' thing.

And who does America have to shepherd us through this?  The literal worst-case scenario.

Am i missing some crucial information? How can India start the whole thing by bombing targets in pakistan and then call themselves the one that doesn't want to escalate? Starting the whole thing is about as escalating as it gets?

If my country got bombed by another out of nowhere, I'd want us to return the favour too. It's hard to blame Pakistan for responding in kind? 

I've heard its supposedly a response to a terrorist attack, but how is Pakistan to be blamed for that? Is there proof it was orchestrated by Pakistan or is it an assumption? If an assumption, then the onus is still on India as the provocative force?

This looks more like an excuse to fire up hostilities. Is it political? Something else? Hatred?

After Partition, Hindu and Sikh officers predominantly chose to serve in India, while Muslim officers were given the option to join either India or Pakistan, with many opting for the latter.

I could be mistaken, but I recall reading that Sam Manekshaw was offered a position in the Pakistani Army, which he declined, choosing instead to continue his service in India. [Edit: I searched, couldn't find any concrete sources for it]

This division was overseen by a Partition Committee led by Field Marshal Claude Auchinleck, who served as the Supreme Commander of both countries’ forces temporarily. The division was based on a two-thirds share for India and one-third for Pakistan, covering personnel, equipment, and infrastructure. Regiments were split or reassigned based on regional and ethnic lines, while Pakistan had to build many of its military institutions from scratch.

Initially, both nations continued to rely on British officers to fill senior positions, as very few Indian or Pakistani officers had reached high ranks due to colonial restrictions. India’s first post-independence Commander-in-Chief was General Sir Rob Lockhart, followed by Sir Roy Bucher. India appointed its first native C-in-C, General K.M. Cariappa, in 1949. Pakistan's first two C-in-Cs, General Sir Frank Messervy and General Sir Douglas Gracey, were British as well, until General Muhammad Ayub Khan became the first Pakistani C-in-C in 1951.

After 1947, India and Pakistan reorganized their armed forces by dividing the resources and personnel of the pre-partition British Indian Army. The division was based on a formula that allocated a larger share to India (64%) and a smaller share to Pakistan (36%). Military formations with Muslim majorities were transferred to Pakistan, while individuals could choose their allegiance. The division of military assets was a complex process, with both countries receiving a share of the British Indian Army and other military resources

The British Indian Army was divided, with India initially receiving a larger contingent of 260,000 soldiers, while Pakistan received 131,000 Pakistan received a fraction of the 165,000 tons of military equipment it was promised but was paid over 75 corore rupees as compensation for loss of immovable assets and those equipment which were obsolete or old. 

The Royal Pakistan Air Force (RPAF) was established on 15 August 1947 with the independence of Pakistan from British India. three of the ten operational squadrons and facilities of the Royal Indian airforce were located within the borders of Pakistan, were transferred to the Royal Pakistan Air Force. 

I believe Field Marshel Claud auchinleck headed a committee for the partition of assets information about the division of navel assets is scarcely avaliable. 

As far as Sam Manekshaw is concerned Yes, it is true that he was offered a position in the Pakistan Army after the partition of India in 1947. His regiment, the 12th Frontier Force Regiment, became part of the Pakistan Army, and Manekshaw was offered the opportunity to join it. However, he declined the offer and chose to remain in the Indian Army

The presence of the British commanding officers on both sides made the Indo-Pakistani war of 1947 an even more  strange affair. The two officers who held command were in daily contact and adopted defensive positions. The attitude was that "you can hit them so hard but not too hard, otherwise there will be all kinds of repercussions." Both Lockhart and Messervy were replaced in the course of war, and their successors Roy Bucher and Douglas Gracey tried to exercise restraint on their respective governments. Bucher was apparently successful in doing so in India, but Gracey yielded and let British officers be used in operational roles on the side of Pakistan. One British officer aparently died in action.

Since the OP asked this question, I wonder what do you all think about the fact that almost all of the armed forces that India had, especially its top brass, served Britishers before independence? 

I personally believe for them it wasn't about nationalism &amp; patriotism but for the sake of serving in the armed forces and its glory, especially in the Rajputs, Jatts, Sikhs &amp; some tribes of muslims. The same people who served Britishers later got integrated into Indian armed forces.

Many british officers still remained and the talented ones were taken away by Jinnah. There was a big void after India became a republic and many regular soldiers were given a leg-up in promotions. My grandfather a regular soldier got promoted as a corps officer after the Brits left. He retired as lieutenant in the Regular Army.
